There’s a surging interest in growing food and wildlife habitat in the back- (and front!) yard. Food forests, with their focus on perennial food production, are surging in popularity. Some practitioners focus on the tried-and-true workhorses of NB – apple/pear trees, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, etc. Others strive for variety – from hardy almonds to ground-cover raspberries. Many rely on permaculture tools and approaches in their projects.
Do you already do some of these and want to learn more? Are you interested and don’t know where to start? Do you want to see different setups and approaches, get inspired, and pick up on tips that might work for you? Do you just want to connect with other like-minded folks?
This is your chance to explore nine different properties, some private and some public – in the Fredericton, Saint John, and Moncton areas. Bonus points? Some of the owners will have plants or other items available for sale or sharing.
