Enrollment Form for Math for Love Day Camps

Thank you for your interest in Math for Love Day Camps. Unfortunately, enrollment for 2022 Math for Love's Spring and Summer programming has closed. If you want to stay informed about where Paul will be teaching next, you can sign-up for Paul's email list.

Moving forward, we're looking for partners who can help us provide Math for Love programming without a financial barrier to entry. If you're in a position to support us in that mission, please contact Paul.

If we have sufficient interest, our next day camp for K-5 students will be at the Phinney Neighborhood Association from December 19-23rd, 2022. If you'd like to see a December day camp happen, please let Paul know via e-mail.

Our Mission

In Math for Love day camps, our mission is to invite participants into a world of mathematics that centers play, exploration, inquiry, and creation. We want students to fall in love with mathematics, and our programs are designed with that goal in mind. If you can't wait to get started, we have tons of materials available at www.mathforlove.com!

About the Instructor
Paul Gafni started teaching with Math for Love in 2012, shortly after earning a B.A. in Mathematics at Northwestern University. After encountering countless delights in the world of pure mathematics, he's been on a mission to share those delights with the world-at-large ever since. He taught Pre-Calculus at the UW's Robinson Center from 2015-2018 and 4th and 5th grade math at Seattle Country Day School from 2019-2020. He has presented at conferences for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the National Association for Gifted Children, and he recently had a paper published in Mathematics Magazine. Paul started making mathematical jewelry in 2015, he's reasonably fluent in Spanish, and he's been studying and playing music since 2018. You can learn more about Paul's art and pedagogy at www.paulgafni.com.

Scholarships
We don't want cost to be a barrier to participation. We offer 25%, 50%, or 75% financial support to anyone who asks. If you would like to take advantage of our scholarship fund, send an e-mail to paul.gafni@gmail.com asking for a scholarship link.

We put 10% of all day camp revenues toward this scholarship fund, and we invite you to contribute to our scholarship fund if you can.

COVID-19 Policies
Our COVID-19 policies are informed by the policies of the Phinney Neighborhood Association, recommendations for classrooms from the CDC and King County Department of Health, and conversations with local teachers in both public and private school settings.

• Masks will be worn indoors and outdoors, except when eating or drinking.
• Students who fail to comply with mask requirements will be withdrawn with no refund.

• Students and instructors will wash their hands on arrival as well as the start and end of snack time.
• Except in transitional moments, we’ll aim to keep students physically distanced at least 3 feet apart.

Cancellation Policy
We offer a full refund for 72 hours after enrollment. After that, we offer a 50% refund until two weeks before the program starts. Unfortunately, we can't offer refunds for last minute cancellations, including COVID related cancellations; we have fixed expenses associated with running the program and need firm commitments in order to make this financially viable. And of course, if we cancel the class, we'll offer a full refund. Thank you for your understanding.
